Rune help

Install Rune with inspection first, prepare a named home, author Scheme, and find version-aware command, HTTP, SQLite, and troubleshooting help.

Preview contract. These operational guides describe unreleased source, not a shipped-release or deployment claim. Match your build's help and bundled skill before using commands. Check compatibility.

Match the guide to your binary

Rune is the SDK for agents building software. It combines a named software home, Steel Scheme, Git deployment, commands, optional HTTP routes, and SQLite application data in one Rust binary. You supply the program and decide when it can run.

The homepage links to Rune v0.1.5. The operational examples in this library describe a preview contract from unreleased source, not a verified public release. A candidate can report 0.1.5 while differing from a downloaded archive. Match both the build and its help before you copy commands.

rune --version
rune --help
rune steel --help
rune exe --help

If the installed help differs, use that build's help and bundled rune-scheme-stdlib skill. Do not replace a working installation just to match this preview. The command reference describes how to find exact syntax.

Choose the help you need

For CI policy that runs on Rune, start with Flint. Flint has separate Linux execution prerequisites.

Read the license before installation

Rune is proprietary software. The Rune Personal Use License Agreement supplied for v0.1.5 grants an individual personal, non-commercial use. It is not an open source license or permission for company, employment, paid-service, hosted-service, or other commercial use. Those uses require a separate written license.

The agreement applies to releases that include it. Earlier assets retain their own terms, and third-party components have their own notices. Read the full agreement before downloading, installing, copying, or using Rune. Your own source, data, and output remain yours under that agreement.

Set expectations before you start

A named Rune is a foreground process when started. Provisioning alone does not run it. Homes under one Unix account are trusted relative to each other, not isolated hostile tenants.

Production LLM inference, chat hosting, and A2A hosting are outside this contract. Fleet and P2P Phase 2 are not shipped capabilities. This library does not promise new Lisp authoring features. Public exposure and authentication require an explicit operator design.

These pages contain expected observations from source contracts, not reports that your workload has passed. Read runtime limits before adapting examples.
